In Case Of Emergency
1. Remain calm - you are doing the best for
your pet by taking action for help.
2. Call your regular veterinarian's office for instructions. If
he/she is unavailable call the Animal Emergency and Referral Center at 772-466-3441
Please call the Animal Emergency and Referral Center before
arriving. This will enable the staff to be prepared for your arrival.
3. Tell us the nature of the problem. Get
directions to the center, and instructions on how to handle
your pet during transportation.
4. Be careful, when injured, even a loving
pet may bite. If in doubt, a soft muzzle (cloth or nylon
stocking) may be tied about the mouth, or a towel or rug
thrown over the head.
5. When you arrive at the center, we will
examine your animal as soon as possible. Of course, we will
make an attempt to treat life-threatening cases first when
more than one animal is presented concurrently.
